Estebrügge parish (Kirchspiel an der Este) is one of the 10 parishes of Altes Land, the marsh region south of the Elbe River, not far from Hamburg in Northern Germany. A church was established here around 1200.
The following villages are part of Estebrügge parish: Cranz, Königreich (including Leeswig), Estebrügge, Gross Hove and Klein Hove, Moorende and Rübke with Finkenreich.
The village of Estebrügge was called West-Moorende in former times, Moorende was called Ost-Moorende.
In 1937 Cranz became part of Hamburg. Rübke became part of Neu-Wulmstorf in 1972. The other four villages now belong to Jork.
The borders of Estebrügge parish have never been changed. Neighbouring parishes are Jork, Borstel, Neuenfelde and Buxtehude.
Emigration – After 1860 people from Estebrügge parish left for New York, Minnesota (the Red Wing area) and other places in the USA as well as for Australia. –
Thanks to my friends in Altes Land, Buxtehude and the USA. - December 2020 - MB
