To be honest, I find the history of Lingen to be so confusing, who belonged to it and when, and who did not belong to it and when, that I thought, I'll never get it sorted out. For this reason I have not limited the content to ONE parish as is customarily done.

I would like to make use of the contents of newspapers (Lingensches Wochenblatt, Lingener Volksbote etc.) for the Local Heritage Book, because I consider them to be VERY informative. They indicate who owned which property and when it was sold etc. I can not limit it to ONE parish, because the newspapers, unfortunately, do not indicate who belonged to which faith.

Since Lingen-Schepsdorf has only belonged to Lingen since the Regional Reform of 1978, Schepsdorf is not a part of this Local Heritage Book. The Schepsdorf and Darme additions are provided by Hans-J. König. He will gladly assist further with any questions. Additional data concerning Beesten are provided by Otto Teipen, who is also available for questions.

This Local Heritage Book is still in its infancy and I would be grateful for any suggestions, reports of mistakes, etc. The project will be ongoing.

In addition, I would like to thank Trudy Ohm, who helps me with the many Netherlanders, and Daniel Macke, who works very actively for this Local Heritage Book in America.
